Craig Gentry, Renowned Cryptographer, Joins Cornami as Chief Scientist, Algorithms

Pioneering Researcher in Fully Homomorphic Encryption to Accelerate Cornami¡¯s Innovation in Secure, High-Performance Computing
Date: 2024-10-10

CAMPBELL, CALIF. -- Cornami named for a “tsunami of cores” announced that Dr. Craig Gentry has joined the company as its Chief Scientist, Algorithms. Dr. Gentry brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of cryptography and secure computation, enhancing Cornami's mission to deliver real-time encrypted computing at scale.

Dr. Gentry is best known for his groundbreaking work in fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), a quantum-secure technique that enables computations on encrypted data without exposing the underlying information. His innovations in this field have earned him numerous accolades, including:

· The MacArthur Fellowship
· The Gödel Prize
· The ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award
· Fellowship in the International Association of Cryptologic Research
· The ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award

His career spans roles at prestigious institutions, including research scientist positions at the Algorand Foundation and IBM Research.

“We are thrilled to welcome Craig to Cornami,” said CEO Dr. Walden “Wally” Rhines. “His expertise in cryptography and secure computation will be invaluable as we continue to advance our technology and expand our impact in the industry.”

Dr. Gentry’s expertise aligns with Cornami's strategic focus on post-quantum security and scalable performance in computing. His role will support the company’s continued efforts to innovate and deliver FHE encrypted computing environments, addressing the growing demand for high-performance solutions while meeting cost and power requirements to support broad adoption.

“I am excited to join Cornami,” stated Dr. Gentry. “Cornami’s innovative hardware is finally turning a dream of mine into reality: processing data and algorithms while in an encrypted state, and in actual real time by making the best use of parallelism. I look forward to contributing to the company's vision and success.”

Cornami is committed to pushing the boundaries of computing, and the addition of Dr. Gentry underscores this commitment. The company continues to attract top talent and thought leaders, positioning itself at the forefront of the industry.
