Iconic Australian Fashion Brand, Mambo, Joins Saban Brands¡¯ Portfolio

Date: 2015-01-09

NEW YORK--(Business Wire/Korea Newswire) January 7, 2015 -- Saban Brands (SB, www.sabanbrands.com) announced today that it has added the iconic Australian clothing label and fashion brand, Mambo (http://mambo-world.com), to its growing portfolio. Over the past three decades, Mambo has become a fashion phenomenon built on art, surf, music and humor. With its distinctive satirical designs created by a diverse collection of talented artists, Mambo has become an influential apparel and accessories brand with a passionate following. Mambo joins Saban Brands’ newly formed Saban Brands Lifestyle Group (SBLG), a rapidly growing portfolio of fashion and lifestyle brands that currently includes Paul Frank (www.paulfrank.com) and Macbeth (http://macbeth.com/us).

Established in 1984, and currently celebrating its 30th anniversary, Mambo has a proven track record of retail success. Well-known for designing the Australian uniforms for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games as well as their artist collaborations, Mambo continues to solidify its place on the international fashion stage.

“We are thrilled to add Mambo to our portfolio of lifestyle brands,” said Dan Castle, Managing Director of Strategic Business Development at Saban Brands. “SBLG's goal is to bring in exceptional fashion and lifestyle properties in key markets and expand their global footprint. As an Australian brand with a unique art-driven aesthetic, Mambo will play a significant role in our international growth strategy both in Australia and around the world."

As a result of adding Mambo to the SBLG portfolio, Saban Brands is pleased to announce that the company is expanding Mambo’s office in Sydney, Australia. Castle said, “Saban Brands’ staff around the world is excited to work directly with the extremely talented and passionate Mambo team. We will maximize and integrate with them as we aggressively grow the brand around the world using Saban's international footprint.”

“This is a massive coup for Mambo and one the Australian team is incredibly excited about,” said Angus Kingsmill, Managing Director of Mambo. “Saban Brands is a major player in the international entertainment, art, music and brand marketing space. The partnering of Mambo with Saban Brands will provide a platform for talented Australian and international artists to showcase amazing wearable art to a global audience on a scale much greater than ever before.”

Currently, Mambo is sold in multiple territories throughout Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Europe and North America.
