Genon Establishes Indonesian Subsidiary to Accelerate AI Transformation Across Asia

Date: 2026-02-28

JAKARTA, INDONESIA -- Genon, a South Korean startup specializing in generative AI solutions, announced on Feb. 24 (Tue) that it has established its first international subsidiary PT. Genon Global Indonesia in Jakarta. The move marks the official launch of its market expansion, aimed at driving AI transformation (AX) worldwide.

Tae Ryong Kim, the company's Head of Global Business Development, who spearheaded its international market exploration, has been named as President and Managing Director of the subsidiary.

The new office signals not merely a geographic expansion, but the culmination of a three-year global strategy. Since 2023, Genon has built its international footprint by successfully executing Proof of Concept (PoC) projects for its Vision AI-powered automated quality inspection solutions. These projects targeted shoe manufacturing plants operated by major Korean and global fashion brands. By last year, these efforts had translated into substantial revenue, proving both the technological competitiveness and profitability of the business model.

Indonesia‘s industrial sector is expanding rapidly, yet its AI solutions supply chain remains nascent — a structural gap Genon identified early and has moved decisively to fill. With a population exceeding 270 million, Indonesia represents one of Southeast Asia’s most significant digital transformation opportunities where Genon expects its technology to play a leading role in driving AI adoption.

From its Jakarta base, Genon will scale the regional deployment of its Vision AI quality control solutions while simultaneously expanding into generative AI-powered workflow automation — broadening its platform footprint across enterprise use cases. The Indonesian subsidiary will function as the company's primary AI transformation hub as it accelerates market entry into Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

“Through rigorous preparation over the past three years, rather than a rushed market entry, Genon has laid a solid foundation to secure a stable presence in the Indonesian market,” said Genon CEO Seok Tae Ko. “Leveraging our proven AI technology and business capabilities, we are poised to become a core partner driving AI adoption across the manufacturing and public sectors in Asia.”
