Trilliant Accelerates Advanced Metering Infrastructure Deployments Across the Asia-Pacific Region

Trilliant¡¯s AMI platform enables utilities to support advanced use cases beyond billing to improve operational efficiency and create better customer engagement.
´º½ºÀÏÀÚ: 2025-09-20

BANGKOK -- Trilliant, a leading international provider of solutions for advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), smart grid, smart cities and IIoT, continues to focus on enabling utilities and energy organizations in Asia-Pacific (APAC) with more than 13 million smart meters operational or in deployment in the region, and millions more planned through strategic partnerships in areas such as Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan and India.

This latest milestone highlights Trilliant’s commitment to supporting utilities in APAC with scalable, future-ready AMI solutions to support their business and customers.

“APAC utility leaders need to look beyond just billing for their use cases in AMI,” said Eugene Loke, Managing Director for APAC at Trilliant. “They must leverage the full potential of a robust AMI network to support a broader range of operational and customer-centric functions. For example, Southeast Asia is seeing growing consumer engagement with smart meters, including improved energy monitoring, budget setting, and real-time usage tracking. These capabilities are helping dispel myths around smart meter technology and demonstrate its value in empowering customers and modernizing grid operations.”

Trilliant’s AMI platform enables utilities to design networks that support advanced use cases such as:

·Distribution Automation - Real-time monitoring and control of grid assets to improve reliability and reduce outage durations.
·Prepaid - Empowering customers to pay for electricity in advance, enhancing financial flexibility and utility revenue assurance.
·Demand Response - Incentivizing customers to shift or reduce energy usage during peak periods to balance grid load.
·Smart Streetlighting - Remote control and monitoring of public lighting for energy savings and improved urban management.
·Outage Management - Rapid detection and response to outages using real-time data from smart meters.
·Remote Re-energize/De-energize - Enabling utilities to connect or disconnect service without dispatching field crews.
·Time-of-Use (TOU) - Ability for utilities to offer programs that encourage electricity usage during off-peak hours when the demand is low.
·Distributed Energy Resources (DER) - Simplify grid integration of DER such as solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), EV charging and other renewables into the grid with enhanced Grid Management.
·Data-Driven Decision Making - AMI data can be leveraged for distribution asset management, including distribution loss analysis, transformer monitoring, and feeder reliability analysis.

With its device-independent, secure, and scalable platform, Trilliant is helping utilities unlock the full value of AMI, not just for billing, but for building smarter grids and more resilient energy networks. Trilliant’s continued expansion in APAC reflects the region’s strategic importance and the growing demand for digital infrastructure that supports energy transition goals.

Earlier this year, the company announced updates to its partnership with SAMART Telcoms, highlighting a milestone with the successful delivery of AMI for Provincial Electricity Authority in Thailand. Get more details in this blog post.
