Seoul, Korea, May 17, 2015 – SK Telecom (NYSE:SKM) today announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Central State Government of Paraguay to supply 10,000 units of its smart learning robot Albert and pilot-launch Smart Robot Coding School in Paraguay.
Smart Robot Coding School is a training program developed by SK Telecom to allow children to learn how to develop software in a fun and easy way. The two companies plan to open Smart Robot Coding School at all grade schools located in Central State.
Moreover, SK Telecom is currently in talks with the Paraguay Ministry of Education and Culture to apply the program to grade schools throughout the nation, which will lead to expanded exports of its smart learning robot.
Meanwhile, on May 11, 2016, SK Telecom and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) have jointly opened Smart Robot Coding School in Costa Rica as part of their pilot project to enhance children’s learning capacity in mathematics. SK Telecom is providing 1,500 units of Albert to be utilized in 300 grade schools, and is training 400 teachers and 5,000 students. Based on the result in Costa Rica, SK Telecom and IDB plan to expand their project to the entire Central and South American region.
