TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Keio Plaza Hotel Tokyo (KPH) will host a complimentary art exhibition entitled “Exhibition of Aristocratic Art, Pursuit of Beauty Through Fragrance Vessels” displaying 18th to 19th century artistic porcelain perfume bottles coveted by women of Europe’s aristocracy, traditional Japanese lacquer art incense burners and other ageless and universally appreciated artwork in our hotel lobby. In addition, our chefs will also create specially prepared menu items that are not only delicious to eat, but also beautiful to observe in reflection of the beauty of the various art items being displayed.
“Exhibition of Aristocratic Art, Pursuit of Beauty Through Fragrance Vessels”
Twenty-two beautiful and charming 18th and 19th century porcelain perfume bottles selected from the KPM Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin GmbH of Berlin, Germany, the Chelsea Porcelain Manufactory of the United Kingdom, and the Venetian Glass Museum in Hakone, Japan will be displayed. These small white porcelain bottles decorated with beautiful flower, fruit, animal and other figurines were far more valuable than gold at the time when they were created, and were filled with extremely precious perfumes and fragrances fit for royalty and reflective of the high value placed upon artistic beauty.
Furthermore, we will display lacquer art incense bottles made by the lacquer artist Tatsuya Matsumoto, famous for his award winning traditional Japanese artwork and restoration work on cultural assets, to provide an introduction of traditional Japanese artistic fragrance vessels to the growing number of foreign visitors to our hotel. Imari porcelain perfume bottles created by traditional craftsman Shinji Hataishi who has been trained in and continues the tradition of Nabeshima Kiln techniques, which have created numerous articles presented to Japanese aristocrats since feudal times, will also be on display for guests to enjoy.
